Plain-English version: AiType uses your audio and text only to transcribe, clean up, reply, rewrite, or chat. We do not keep audio recordings, do not retain dictated text after normal processing, and do not use your data to train models. Share links are explicit, encrypted at rest, and expire automatically.
What we collect
- Email address - used for authentication and billing only.
- Audio recordings - sent securely to AiType Cloud for transcription, then immediately discarded. We do not store audio.
- Transcribed text - optionally sent to AiType's Ai processing providers for cleanup or replies. We do not store your text on our servers.
- Shared dictation links - created only when you choose to share a dictation. Shared text is encrypted at rest, available to anyone with the unguessable link until it expires, and then pruned.
- Usage metadata - anonymous counters (e.g. number of transcriptions) for billing and abuse prevention.
What we don't do
- We don't sell your data to anyone.
- We don't store your voice recordings.
- We don't retain dictated text on our servers after processing.
- We don't create public share links unless you explicitly ask for one.
- We don't use your data to train Ai models.
Security controls
- Audio, transcript, proofread, rewrite, reply, and chat requests are sent over HTTPS.
- Normal message content is handled transiently and is not written to our application database.
- Shared dictation text is encrypted at rest and share links expire automatically.
- Operational logs record metadata such as timings, status, and counts, not the message body.
Third-party services
- Groq and OpenAI - transcription and Ai processing. Subject to their respective privacy policies.
- Stripe - payment processing for web subscriptions. Subject to Stripe's privacy policy.
- Apple - In-App Purchase billing and subscription management for iPhone purchases. Subject to Apple's privacy policy.
- Google Play - subscription billing and management for Android purchases. Subject to Google's privacy policy and Play billing terms.
Data deletion
You can delete your account and associated data from the AiType app, or use the delete-account form if you need help.
