What AiType adds to iPhone
The built-in iOS keyboard is good, but it doesn't clean up your speech. Apple's dictation key gives you verbatim transcription — useful, but you still have to correct it. AiType's keyboard adds:

Step-by-step setup
Install AiType from the App Store
Search "AiType" on the App Store, or tap the link. The app is free to install with a 14-day trial.
Open Settings → General → Keyboard → Keyboards
Tap Add New Keyboard… at the bottom of the Keyboards list. Find AiType in the third-party keyboards section and tap it.
Enable Full Access
Back in the Keyboards list, tap AiType, then toggle Allow Full Access on. Full Access is required for the keyboard to connect to AiType's AI backend for dictation and reply features. AiType does not read other apps' data — see the privacy policy.
Switch to AiType in any app
Open any app with a text field (Messages, WhatsApp, Mail, etc.). Tap the text field to show the keyboard. Hold the 🌐 globe key (bottom left) and select AiType from the list.
Sign in to unlock AI features
Tap the AiType icon in the keyboard toolbar and sign in with your account (or create one). Your 14-day trial activates automatically — no credit card needed.
Try dictation: hold the mic button and speak
Press and hold the microphone icon in the AiType keyboard. Speak naturally — release when done. Clean text appears in the text field in ~250ms.
Frequently asked questions
Why does AiType need Full Access?
Full Access is required for any third-party keyboard to make network requests — which is how AiType connects to its AI backend for dictation and Reply features. AiType does not log keystrokes or read other apps' content.
Can I use AiType as my only keyboard?
Yes. AiType has all the standard iPhone keyboard features: QWERTY layout, autocorrect, emoji, numbers/symbols, and all language keyboards. Most users set it as their default and only use the Apple keyboard for Face ID / passcode entry (which blocks third-party keyboards for security).
Does it work in every app?
It works in any app that uses iOS's standard text input system — Messages, WhatsApp, Mail, Instagram, Twitter/X, Slack, Notes, Safari, and more. A small number of apps use custom text inputs that block third-party keyboards (some banking apps, some games).
What if I want to switch back to the Apple keyboard temporarily?
Hold the 🌐 key and select the default Apple keyboard. Or tap the globe key once to cycle through your installed keyboards.
Does it sync with my Mac?
Yes. Sign in with the same account on macOS and your subscription, voice history, and clipboard are all shared.
